Reading finally got what they deserved and have got their first three points of the season.

They started they game fantastically and this continued throughout the first half, creating chance after chance and controlling the game.

Our problem so far this season has been converting these chances, but at Brentford, The Royals managed to take advantage of their superiority.

Orlando Sa opened the scoring in the 17th minute. After a great move down the left wing, Robson-Kanu's pinpoint cross was headed in smartly by the new man. However, this was just the start of the away sides dominant first half performance as Quinn, Williams and Blackman all saw great chances saved well by the Brentford Keeper, Button.

The Brentford Stopper was looking like an early contender for man of the match, but he had no chance with Nick Blackman's simply excellent free kick that the Striker riffled in from 25 yards.

Half time. 2-0 Reading.

There were a couple of changes at half time. One for the home side, as tricky winger Clarke replaced the ineffective Gogia. Reading also made a change as the injured Hal Robson-Kanu was replaced by Mccleary for his first appearance in the league this season.

Brentford got off to a much better start in the second half and started to pile pressure on the away side. Reading found themselves dropping deeper and deeper.

Despite the home sides dominance in possession during the second half, McShane and Ferdinand stayed solid and won everything thrown at them.

Brentford then scored a goal out of nowhere as Readings former target Lasse Vibe curled in a beauty.

Reading continued to soak up the pressure and killed the game off from the penalty spot in the 90(+9). Williams broke away down the right and squared it to Nick who was swiped out by the Brentford keeper. Blackman stepped up and rolled it into the back of the net with the last kick of the game.

A wonderful away win for Reading.

Star Player

Nick Blackman was quality yesterday. He was my 'one to watch' in the match preview and he proved why as he scored a brace. Blackman drove at defenders, showed skill and scored a magnificent free-kick in the first half. Nick showed all us Reading fans what he is about and continued his impressive form in style. He and Orlando Sa may well make a strong strike partnership this season.

Player Ratings

Bond 6

Kicking again dodgy. Didn't really have to make a save.

Gunter 7

Solid from Gunter. Lacks abit of composure on the ball

Mcshane 8

Captains performance. Won every header in the second half

Ferdinand 8

Continues to impress. Fantastic partnership with McShane

Obita 6

Scuffed a few clearances. Never really got forward.

Hal Robson-Kanu 7

His best performance in a Reading shirt in years. Just a shame he had to come off at Half time.

Williams 8

Back into centre midfield. Ran the game in the first half. So much energy.

Norwood 6

Wasn't his best performance. Unable to produce any of his brilliant passes.

Quinn 8

His best performance in a Reading shirt. Busy down the left with lots of quality on show.

Blackman 9

Continues his great start to the season. Two more goals.

Sa 8

Another good performance from Sa and finally rewarded with a goal.

Mccleary 6

Struggled to get into the game as Brentford dominated possession when he was on.

Tshibola N/A

Only a late cameo. Didn't do enough to warrant a rating.

Hector N/A

Played last 5 so impossible to judge.

Manager Rating

9- What a birthday for Clarke. All his hard work over the summer has paid off after a fantastic performance and win.

Opponent Rating

6- Brentfords manager has had a tough start to life in English football. Their first half performance was poor and not exceptable. However, they showed what they're capable of in the second half as they dominated possession.
