Blackmans last minute winner denies Bristol City what would have been an important point.

Reading hosted Bristol City in the first game of 2016 for both sides.

It started off very poorly and didn't really get much better.

McDermott made five changes with Taylor, Sa, Vydra and Cooper coming in aswell as Al-Habsi in goal.

Reading controlled the opening stages without any real intensity.

They did, however, create a golden opportunity for Vydra to take the lead but he chipped in wide of the post with just the keeper to beat.

Oli Norwood then went close with a free kick before a first half with chances at a premium ended 0-0.

After the break, both sides came out and the game had a bit more tempo about it.

Again, there weren't many glaring opportunities, but Reading started to scare City when Mccleary came on and Blackman went up front.

However, with just five minutes left, Bristol thought they had won it, only to see the assistant flagging for offside.

Reading went down the other end after Vydra made a phenomenal tackle on the halfway line and Mccleary threaded in Blackman who cut in and slotted it past a helpless Fielding to the delight of the Reading faithful.

A huge three points to start off a big year for this Reading side, but a horrible defeat for Bristol who are in big trouble.

Star Player

Jake Cooper came in for his first start of the season and didn't put a foot wrong. Winning all of his arial duels and not mucking about at the back, the young lad put in a man of the match display.
