Reading hold Burnley- Report

Reading held high flying Burnley to a 0-0 draw on Saturday in a controversial affair.

Andre Gray missed a penalty in the second half after what looked like a dive.

Brian McDermott opted to change the system with Matej Vydra out. McDermott brought in Quinn, Hector and Piazon for Vydra, Mccleary and Williams. This saw Hector sit in front of the back four with Piazon, Norwood, Quinn and Kanu supporting Kermorgant.

The game started slowly, but Gray had the best chance of the first half after 15 minutes but he put George Boyd's cross over from just six yards.

Reading then had a chance of their own later in the half when Kermorgant's header came back off the post.

The first half ended with chances at a premium and not much attacking play occuring.

The second half also started slowly with neither side managing to get into their rhythm.

Andre Gray missed another gilt edged chance from a similar position but this time it went wide.

Finally, after 57 minutes, Burnley had their chance. Andre Gray was supposedly tripped by Al-Habsi to the disgust of the Reading fans and players.

It looked like a certain dive and Robson-Kanu took it upon himself to dig up the penalty spot resulting in Al-Habsi saving it.

This sparked wild celebrations both on the pitch and off it.

The game then turned a little scrappy and a lot of unnecessary fouls were conceded by either side.

Again, no real chances were created by the home side and the game petered out and ended 0-0.

It was a decent enough performance from the Royals against an in form Burnley side.

Despite not creating much, Reading can go into Saturday's huge FA Cup game in good spirit.

Star Player

Al-Habsi has turned a real corner since his mistake against QPR on December 3rd. He again put in a great performance and saved a penalty.
