Tabb began his career as a trainee at Crystal Palace but left before making a first team experienced and was soon in the Brentford starting 11 at just 17 years of age.

Became a key player for the Bee's under the management of Wally Downes and earned himself a move to Championship side Coventry when his contract at Griffin Park came to an end.

Made nearly 100 appearances at the Ricoh Arena and was the Sky Blues player of the year in 2007/2008.

Steve Coppell signed him for the Royals in January 2009 and he ended the season in the heart of the midfield, despite many expecting him to operate on the wing, a role in which he personally prefered and adopted by Brian McDermott.
