Church was the last player to be given a full debut by Steve Coppell in his managerial career at Reading, when the young striker played in the second leg of the play off semi final defeat against Burnley.

Church had previously enjoyed fruitful loan spells at Crewe, Yeovil, Wycombe and Leyton Orient, and previous to that he had captained the Welsh under 21 side that nearly knocked England out of qualification for the European championship 2009. He scored 3 goals over the two legs.

Since his full Reading debut he has earnt full caps for Wales, making his debut against Estonia.

Church has a terrific first full season in the Royals squad and regularly lead the line under both Brendan Rodgers and Brian McDermott, ending the season with a wonderful goal against Preston.

He had a less successful 2010/11 season under Brian McDermott, limited to just 14 starts scoring 5 goals in the process.

Simon has been considered a fantastic prospect by many and will surely be playing at the top level one day.
