Turkish under 21 midfield Jem Karacan has come through the youth ranks at Reading, and after loan spells at Bournemouth and Millwall, he made his first team debut in the 2008/2009 season, scoring in the Carling Cup win over Luton.

Went onto establish himself at the heart of the Royals midfield and featured in a number of games in the 2008/09 season including the fantastic 3-0 away win at Wolves.

Continued his progression the following season and is now a regular first team player at the Madejski Stadium. Took the number 4 shirt at the start of the 2010/11 season and continued to establish himself as key member of the squad.
