Centre back Pearce came through the Royals academy, after joining the club as a 12 year old. Another to enjoy fruitful loan spells, at Bournemouth, Northampton, Norwich and Southampton and has already featured heavily in the Royals first team squad.
Appointed vice captain in the summer of 2009 and was being groomed as Ivar Ingimarsson's replacement as club captain but has since lost that honour to Matt Mills.
Commanding in the air, strong tackler but also very good on the ball, Pearce will still hope to be at the heart of the Royals defence for years to come.
