Born and bred from the Clubs academy, Alex brings a wealth of Football League experience following successful loans at Brentford and Yeovil Town.

Following these successful loan spells, Alex was offered a contract in August 2010 which kept him at the club until the summer of 2013. Just days later he earned his first England U21 cap.

During the 2010/11 season, Alex had a very successful spell in the first team during Adam Federici's absence in which he earnt Man of the Match performances aginst Leeds and Premier League outfit Everton.
