The goalscoring striker began his career at his hometown in Stockport where he scored 18 goals in 63 appearances and was eventually sold to Rochdale in 2007 after a successful loan spell.

One of the Football League's most prolific strikers then signed for Ronnie Moore's Rotherham United where he enjoyed his best goalscoring form, hitting 54 goals in 96 appearances.

This form did not go unnoticed by many teams and eventually got his opportunity with Championship side Reading, where he signed a three-year deal. His goals in the latter stages of the 2011/12 campaign proved crucial in getting the Royals promoted.

Many thought the jump to the Premier League would be too much for Le Fondre, but again proved his doubters wrong. 12 goals in the top division gave him deserved media praise and also led to him becoming the first ever Reading player to win Premier League player of the month in January.
