Championship striker on Royals radar

Reading are interested in the services of Burnley striker Charlie Austin, according to The Sun.

The 23-year old has had a blistering start to the Championship season, scoring 12 goals in 10 games for Eddie Howe's side, making him the top scorer in the division. Seven of those 12 goals have come in the past four games, which has also prompted interest from fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa and Newcastle.

Austin, who has played the majority of his football in non-league, was released by the Royals back in 2004. The Berkshire club claimed Austin 'was too small' despite currently standing at 6'2 and an impressive scoring ratio with his head. The Sun have quoted an asking price of around £4 million for the former Swindon striker.
