Royals owner admits interest in Russian star

Reading owner Anton Zingarevich has publicly stated the Royals are interested in signing Andrey Arshavin in January.

The 31-year old is being pushed further down the pecking order at Arsenal, prompting interest from many European sides, but Reading are still keen to put their name in the hat for the former Zenit playmaker. Having already claimed the signature of Pavel Pogrebnyak in the summmer, the Russian tycoon will fancy his luck in snatching Arshavin.

Speaking to the Russian website Spb.jp.ru, Zingarevich said: 'Arshavin is interesting for Reading. But he is one of 10 players that we are interested in.' Another one of these players is believed to be Russian winger Denis Cheryshev, who is currently playing for Real Madrid's 'B' side, Castilla.
