Royals bid for Spanish striker?

Royals bid for Spanish striker?
Reading have submitted a formal offer for Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas, according to the Daily Mail.

The 25-year old is reportedly being chased by many Premier League sides, which more specifically includes Chelsea, Newcastle and Swansea. However, the tabloid newspaper claim that an insider, close to Celta Vigo, has told them that the Royals are the only club to submit a firm offer for the talented forward.

Aspas has a release clause in his contract worth 10 million euros, translating into just over 8 million. Other Spanish journalists on Twitter have claimed that Reading want to pay this release clause in three installments for the Spaniard, but the La Liga outfit are not keen on this proposition.

Irrelevant of whether it is in installments, I can't see us spending this sort of money on anybody. I agree that a striker should be the target for McDermott in the final weeks of January, but cannot see us spending anymore than 3 million on a player, as it's certainly not with the club's so-called 'ethos'.

That's what Portsmouth and Redknapp thought, rather not take the risk and be a yoyo team.
