The Championship 2013/14 - Leeds
Nickname: The Whites
Ground: Elland Road (Capacity: 39,460)
When we face off: Wed 18th September (A), Tues 11th March (H)
Last season finish: 13th - Championship
Manager: Brian McDermott - A very familiar face to every Reading fan, but has well and truly moved on after his 10-year affiliation with the Royals. The former Slough manager was dismissed as Reading manager back in March, following a poor string of results. However, McDermott bounced back into management a month later with Leeds United, easing any relegation worries with two early wins. Despite not being best pleased at Leeds' owners financial policy, Brian will feel he can make the sleeping giant up. I'm sure he will receive a great reception from Reading fans when he returns this season.
Key player: Stephen Warnock - The former England international struggled to get regular first team action at Aston Villa, so opted to make the move north to Leeds. A defender with great experience at Premier League level, so Leeds will hope he can use this just as well in the second tier. Leeds' leaky defence let them down on occasion last season, so Warnock will add needed steel to their backline.
Season Preview - Leeds are one of the 'sleeping gaint' clubs, that many managers are struggling to wake up. Leeds' financial issues last season heavily effected their business in the transfer market, but despite new owners this time round, it appears McDermott is having the same frustrations. Leeds are going to have to sell players if they want to bring anyone in and if this continues to be the case, I can only see a mid-table finish again for Leeds.
