Player Ratings - Bolton (H)
Alex McCarthy - 7 - A fairly quiet afternoon for the keeper, but did have to make a crucial save from N'Gog in the first half. If that would have gone in, it could have been a very different game.
Chris Gunter - 8 - Consistency is becoming a key theme for the right back, who was fantastic going forward and defensively. Without a shadow of a doubt the most improved player compared to last season.
Alex Pearce - 7 - Solid game from Pearce, but he did have a few hiccups in the first half. Dealt comfortably with N'Gog, winning the majority of his headers.
Kaspars Gorkss - 8 - Like Pearce, had a few shaky moments in the first period, but very solid throughout. Great flick for his goal, but going past about three Bolton players on the touchline with some Messi-esque feet was the highlight for me!
Jordan Obita - 8 - Another fantastic and mature performance at left-back from the youngster, who is a breath of fresh air with his attacking intent down the left side.
Garath McCleary - 8 - Two assists from the winger, who was more prominent in the first half than he was the second. He has become anonymous at times this season, but being the leading player for 12 assists, he is a crucial asset to the side. Very unselfish for Alfie's third goal.
Danny Williams - 9 - I said his performance against Watford last week was his best in a Reading shirt, but this bettered it. His energy levels were fantastic throughout, hassling the Bolton midfield and his passing was much improved compared to previous showings.
Hope Akpan - 8 - After a good performance against Watford last week, he built on that in a superb centre midfield showing today. He formed a great partnership with Williams, doing the nitty gritty work in breaking up Bolton's play and keeping the tempo of the play high. Superb finish for his goal, which should boost his confidence further.
Jobi McAnuff - 7 - The skipper put in another tireless performance, despite not being massively involved in any of the goals. He did his defensive work when he needed to and cutting inside created good width on the right for McCleary and Gunter, which caused Bolton problems.
Adam le Fondre - 9 - Man of the Match - A first Reading hat trick for Alfie, who proved when given the chances, is worthy of starting games. Apart from his clinical finishes, his all round game was very good - holding up the ball, good movement and linking up well with Pog.
Pavel Pogrebnyak - 8 - The Russian complemented Alfie fantastically today. A great flick on for the second goal and set ALF up for a great chance in the second half. Good finish for the penalty to give him a goal he duly deserved.
Nick Blackman - 7 - Confidence must be booming now for the forward, who scored his first Madejski goal. He finally seems to be winning fans over and rightly so.
Jake Taylor - 7 - Decent cameo from the young player, who was positioned out on the right. Showed some good touches.
Michael Hector - N/A - Only a short appearance, but a debut for the young defender, who looked very lively and forward-thinking.
