Player Ratings - Blackpool (H)

Player Ratings - Blackpool (H)
After another thumping victory at home, Vital Reading once again looks at the players' individual performances from the Blackpool game.

----------------------------------------------------------

Alex McCarthy - 7 - He didn't really have an awful lot to do throughout the game, but his distribution and claiming for high balls was very good. Couldn't do an awful lot about their goal, it was a great strike.

Chris Gunter - 8 - The Welshman looks a completely different player compared to last season. Constantly bombing down the left side and is coping very well with every winger he is playing against at the moment.

Alex Pearce - 7 - Pearcey has been shaky in recent games, but today was much more confident from the defender. Along with Gorkss, he dealt with the duo of Davies and Chopra very easily.

Kaspars Gorkss - 7 - Another assured performance from the experienced defender, who is showing the same form he had in our promotion season. He looked very comfortable on the ball throughout, which is probably helped by our more direct style.

Jordan Obita - 7 - Another mature showing from young Obita, who is looking more of a natural at left back as the games go by. Having a natural left-footer there, with pace and attacking intent is very good to see.

Garath McCleary - 8 - The winger has another two assists to his name after this game and is growing in confidence. He was constantly looking to take on his man and was also putting some good crosses into the box, a feature which has been lacking from his game.

Hope Akpan - 7 - A performance that was very reminiscent of Leigertwood - constantly breaking up their play and keeping the passing simple in midfield. His confidence seemed to be an issue, but watching him in this game told me that he has now got his confidence back.

Danny Williams - Man of the Match - 8 - Where does this lad get this energy from? His energy in centre midfield is a breath of fresh air and really contributes towards our high tempo and pressing that we saw at times in the game. His passing range was good and was constantly hassling Blackpool's midfield.

Jobi McAnuff - 8 - A close contender for MotM, after another excellent peformance. The skipper, as ever, never lacked in effort and we saw a more creative side to Jobi today, slotting passes into the forwards, rather than shooting needlessly after driving inside from the left.

Adam le Fondre - 8 - Brilliant from Alfie again, doing what he does best and proving to the manager why he should be starting games. Good positioning and anticipating for the first two goals and a wonderful finish for his third. He also got an assist to his name after slotting in Pog, who he is forming a great partnership with.

Pavel Pogrebnyak - 8 - As just mentioned, he is forming a great partnership with ALF. His hold-up play again was very good, along with his work rate. For me, he has probably been our player of the season so far.

------------------------SUBSTITUTES------------------------

Hal Robson-Kanu - 7 - I'm far from his biggest fan, especially when I don't think he can play a central role, but in his short spell he proved his case well. Was very positive, constantly facing the goal and a sublime finish for his goal.

Nick Blackman - 6 - Didn't do an awful lot when he came on, but the game was already won.

Michael Hector - 6 - Only got a short amount of time on the pitch with few touches, but even from that, it is clear he is comfortable with playing out from the back. It's unfortunate for him that Pearce and Gorkss are in good form.
