Player Ratings - Blackburn (A)

Player Ratings - Blackburn (A)
Vital Reading takes a look at the players' performances from the 3-1 loss to Blackburn on Saturday. Two goals from Rudy Gestede and a superb free-kick from Ben Marshall sealed the points for Rovers. Glenn Murray scored our consolation just before half-time.

Adam Federici - 6 - Feders seemed helpless for any of the goals, some may ask questions of him for the free-kick, but we can give him the benefit of the doubt. Made a great save from Gestede in the second half.

Chris Gunter - 4 - I understand Gunter is our stand in skipper at the moment, but his form has been capable of being droppable. If Cummings was fit and ready, he would walk into that team. Marshall ran him ragged all game and two of the goals came from his side, failing to prevent the cross, which is becoming a regular theme.

Alex Pearce - 5 - It is rare that you see Pearce get bullied in a game, but it was exactly that - Gestede had the beating of him aerially on every occasion. Gestede and Rhodes constantly switching sides made it difficult for him to man mark Rhodes and leave Cooper to match up with Gestede.

Jake Cooper - 6 - This game proved if anyone should be dropped, it should be Pearce, as Cooper looked the more solid out of the two. The academy product was getting his foot in and winning headers. The only negative was that he hoofed the ball on most occasions, rather than a simple pass, but that composure will come with time.

Jordan Obita - 6 - Along with Cooper, let down by the rest of his defence. He had no problems defensively, keeping Cairney quiet on the right. Going forward he looked our biggest threat too, supplying Murray`s equaliser with a fantastic cross.

Oliver Norwood - 4 - Worst game in a Reading shirt. His passing was dreadful, long and short; set pieces were not very good either.

Hope Akpan - 5 - Hope had a good first half, imposing his physicality in midfield, but in the second half, he had no influence. His confidence looked shot and was slack with passes, picking up a booking also.

Nick Blackman - 6 - It was good to see him back in the team, as he looks like our only attacker than can conjure something out of nothing. He was very lively in the first half, but went missing in the second unfortunately - he should still be starting most weeks over HRK.

Hal Robson-Kanu - 5 - The Welsh international took the number ten role and was just as anonymous as he has been on the left-side in recent weeks. His only major contribution was conceding a needless, stupid free-kick, which led to their second goal.

Jake Taylor - 5 - He looked lively in the first half, linking up well with Obita and HRK, but in the second he was non-existent and was unsurprisingly hauled off on the hour mark.

Glenn Murray - 6 - The forward`s link up play in the first half was smart, despite his shooting and finishing being poor - good positioning for his goal though. Starved of supply in the second half.

Not even worth mentioning really, Simon Cox and Jamie Mackie didn`t do an awful lot when they came on. What was good to see though was Danny Williams back on the field, albeit for 15 minutes.
