Player Ratings - Watford (H)

Player Ratings - Watford (H)
Vital Reading takes a look at the players' performances from the 1-0 loss to Watford on Saturday.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Adam Federici - 6 - Made a few good saves in the first half and distribution was solid. Couldn`t do anything about the goal.

Chris Gunter - 7 - The Welshman`s best game in a long while, any coincidence it was without the captain`s armband? Possibly. Very solid defensively and was a good threat going forward - his link up with McCleary was very good.

Alex Pearce - 6 - Decent enough game from the stand-in captain, who dealt well with a daunting prospect of Deeney and Vydra.

Michael Hector - 7 - Good game from Hector, who didn`t put a foot wrong all game. If he improves on his distribution, he has the potential to be a top centre-half.

Jordan Obita - 6 - A very bright first half, but second half, he was anonymous, with most of our play coming from the right side. We look much more balanced with Obita left back, I think that is where his long-term future should be.

Oliver Norwood - 6 - Not up to the standard he has set this season, his long range passing was erratic and inaccurate. He still made crucial tackles and interceptions in the second half though.

Danny Williams - 6 - It looks like he is slowly finding his feet again. The energy and drive in first half from the midfielder was there, but seemed to struggle with his penetration in the second. Sloppy play for their goal, but McCleary did him no favours.

Garath McCleary - 7 - Like Williams, McCleary is edging closer to rediscovering his form from last season. He looked lively and had the beating of his man, the final product was lacking on occasion unfortunately.

Simon Cox - 5 - A poor game from Coxy, who struggled in his number ten role. His touch was off and didn`t link up with Murray at all.

Nick Blackman - 5 - A great chance for the forward to stake his claim under the new manager, but he didn`t get going. He didn`t look as effective on the left compared to the right. Nick had a great chance in the second half at the back post, but somehow put it wide.

Glenn Murray - 6 - If it wasn`t for the odd piece of good hold-up, he would have got a 5 for his poor finishing. Murray had two good opportunities, which he should have taken, especially if he thinks he deserves a chance with Palace in the Prem.
